| 17 "Watch me," he told them. "Follow my lead. When I get to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do. 18
When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, then from all around the camp blow yours and shout, 'For the LORD and for Gideon.' " 19 Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. 20 The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!" 21 While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled. 22 When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the LORD caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. God had trimmed down Gideon's army to fighting size. Sometimes the vision can only be reached with the right people! If you are a leader, those you lead should: 1) agree with your goals and objectives - be prayerful about those who buck against the vision that God has given you - remember we don't fight against flesh and blood but principalities and powers! It's not about you and its not about them - its about the kingdom building so don't get into useless arguments about what you're trying to accomplish. BE PRAYERFUL! 2) be able to handle the responsibilities assigned - don't give assignments to people just because you have a relationship with them or because you like them - make sure that God is leading you to rely on that person and that they can accomplish the task - if they cannot handle it maybe they shouldn't be in charge of completing the assignment. 3) help those who follow you develop a spirit of faithfulness, to be individuals you can count on to complete their work on time and satisfactorily - make sure that you can count on those on your team to be faithful in completing and following through on tasks - teams work well when everyone is pulling their weight toward one goal. Whether you are a leader or a follower remember that everything you do should be done to the glory of God. When every one stays within his/her lane and completes each task with this in mind, God will bless what your hands have found to do. c/2008 Candie A. Price |
