The Boldness of My Soul
Written by Candie A. Price

1 I will praise You with my whole heart; Before the gods I will sing praises to You. 2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. 3 In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul. 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O LORD, When they hear the words of Your mouth. 5 Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, For great is the glory of the LORD. 6 Though the LORD is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me. 8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Psalm 138:1-8

Shed Those Grave Clothes

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

Romans 8:18-38 has to be one of the greatest passages penned by Paul. It is one of those passages that lights your spirit and literally dances in your heart – especially during times when you are experiencing angst, uncertainty or are just plain tired of life’s issues.

The Keeper
Written by Candie A. Price

1I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 3He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Lord, When I Forget
Written by Candie A. Price

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.(Psalm100:5)

Sunday School material for this past quarter covered the history of the Children of Israel, from Moses’ calling to their entrance into the Promised Land. One of the things we often discussed in class was Israel’s amazing ability to forget how good God had been to them and how he always remained faithful, even when they were faithless.

I often remind my students not to get too annoyed with Israel for we, too, seem to forget God’s goodness and faithfulness when we are facing trials and even when we are not! We forget the last big storm that he brought us out of and how huge and overwhelming it appeared – yet, we survived, we came out of it and sometimes we’re even better because of it! We fail to look at all of the many years we’ve been on this earth and God has kept us, even had to pick us up and change our direction, but, nonetheless, again, we made it through. The Psalmist says that the Lord is good and his love endures forever. Forever is a very long time, so long that it cannot even be measured! And as children of God we know that forever with God is a continual state – it has no expiration date, it has no demise – it is constant, continual and everlasting. For us that means that God is always in the state of being good – his love is always in the state of enduring – its habitual, it’s non-stop, it’s constant! He is always good and His love will ALWAYS endure!

The scripture continues to say that his faithfulness continues through all generations. He does not choose to be faithful just to the Israelites, He does not choose to just be faithful to generations past– He is faithful to all generations! These are the characteristics of God that we should not forget. We may go through some very tumultuous times – we may experience some let downs and some people may treat us disdainfully – People will change on you, circumstances may seem to overwhelm you, BUT the Lord is good – his love endures forever and his faithfulness continues through all generations – Continually, Constantly, and Forever!

Holy Vice

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[c] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21

Genuine Love
Written by Candie A. Price

9 For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sake before our God, 10 night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith? I Thessalonians 3:9-10

In many of Paul’s letters he wrote with a sincere love for his brothers and sisters in Christ. In I Thessalonians he longed to be with them, to encourage them, to strengthen them, but he mentions that Satan hindered him and he was unable to go to them. He cared enough about their spiritual state to send Timothy in his place but he still had a longing to see them face to face so he states that he prayed night and day that he could come to them and perfect what is lacking in their faith.  It is amazing his level of love for them and so the question becomes for all of us in the body of Christ: do we love one another so deeply that our desire is to perfect what is lacking in each other’s faith?

W.O.W. = With or Without?
Written by Candie A. Price

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (Jas 1:22 [KJV])

I was minding my own business, in the midst of writing a 5 page paper on the Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard when the initials for my magazine, WOW! (Women of the Word) popped into my head. Immediately following that thought were the words “With Or Without.” I have been, for lack of a better word, tortured by recent events that have been going on around me – from deaths to rumors to disturbing news – the full gamut of incidences and the full spectrum of emotions have surfaced lately. Lord, what does it all mean? I know that he isn’t going to give ME the answers, and why should he? Read more

The Certain Uncertainty
Written by Candie A. Price
Thursday, 02 April 2009 01:12
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.” Matthew 12:33, 35

What will we be caught doing when death comes knocking at our door? Will we be found just having encouraged someone, lifted someone up or prayed for someone? Or will we be found cursing someone out because they dashed out in front of us in traffic? Will our last conversations be blessings or distasteful? Will death find us on a day that started with praise and worship and fellowship with Christ, or will it find us on a day, like every other, that we didn’t make time for Him?

The God Who Answers by Fire
Written by Candie A. Price
Monday, 09 March 2009 16:35

"Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God." So all the people answered and said, "It is well spoken." I Kings 18:24

Of course we can assume that Elijah would never have made this proposition if he had not known with certainty that God would answer his prayer. Often times when we pray to God we do not have within us that same level of certainty.  Yes, we are cracked vessels, mere humans, who don’t always walk with the uprightness of faith that we ought to have as God bought, Bible-believing Christians. But it is at those moments, especially, that we have to cry out to God , “we believe, but help our unbelief.”

A Word Just for You
Written by Candie A. Price
Monday, 02 March 2009 17:49

These last couple of weeks have been tough! But I know that I’m more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. The enemy is challenging my faith, attacking relationships and trying to hinder me from writing. During this attack, I have been meditating on a word that I initially wrote just for myself and shared it with my Facebook friends recently. I decided to share it with you also and pray that it will bless you as it is continually blessing me! It isn’t very long, but I know that it’s a word in due season!
