7 “Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almighty? Job 11:7 (ESV)

By now you may realize that I love the book of Job as I have written several devotions about the book. Many of us share a kinship with Job because his life is very relatable. We can identify with his pain, his sufferings and even his joys.

Verse 7  of Job 11, however, helps us to put many things about our lives in perspective as they relate to the Lord. Can you find out the deep things of God? When we are in crisis, especially, we search for answers, for relief and for meaning. However, we must understand that the deep things belong to God. The whys and the wheres and the how comes all belong to the Lord. Some times He chooses to share these answers with us, sometimes He does not. What we can be sure of is that our God is so vast and so big that He encompasses all of our lives within Himself! He is so huge that He can handle all of my issues, all of my circumstances, all of my worries while at the same time handling all of yours as well! There is no limit to His power, to His majesty or to His attention span! He does not get so tired from hearing every one else’s problems that He cannot hear mine! He doesn’t take a break from working on my behalf or from working on yours! He is GI-NORMOUS! His ability to handle all things at all times and still allow the sun to take day shift and the moon to take the night shift is incredible!

If our God is so deep and His ability to handle all of our lives at the same time never misses a beat, then why are we, His children, so downcast? Why are we so fast to yield to the traps and hindrances of the enemy? Why do we let others get under our skin so easily? Why are we so tempted to take matters in our lives into our own hands?

What your 2009 will look like will depend totally on your ability to trust in the BIG God that you have, to entrust Him with the deep things that belong only to Him and your faith in His limitless abilities! Let go and let Him have His way!
